Another day at work. We had a great weekend. It was the annual deer hunt, (actually the annual deer hike and come home exhausted weekend). We really had a blast. Mark, Nick, and Alex went camping on Friday with Todd and Jeff and I. We went out Friday morning and got camp set up and then just enjoyed the afternoon and evening. Mark made some wonderful stew that we all enjoyed. We had a nice camp fire and slept like baby's (nice and warm) with the camp stove that fits inside of Nick's tent. Really a lot of fun. The weather was so nice you couldn't help but enjoy it. We got up early Saturday morning and had a yummy breakfast and Uncle Scott and his boys, Tyler and Devin showed up about that time so we gathered up our hunting supplies and headed out. We had only been hunting for about 1/2 hour when Uncle Mark spotted a nice buck and was able to get it. He always manages to get a deer weather any of the rest of us see any or not.
Jeff had gotten his hunters safety badge this fall so he had a 22 and was hunting pine hens. We saw a few and he started to shoot at them. After a shaky start he managed to hit one and was really excited about it. After that first one he became deadly with his shooting and was able to get two more. He impressed me with the third one that he shot. It was a fair ways away and up in a tree and he got it with one shot. It is a big bird and will be really good eating. He was way excited and I was proud of him. I kind of think that he could care less if we say any deer or not as long as we were seeing pine hens. It was a lot of fun being with him and seeing him have fun. I think we all had a great time and enjoyed each others company. Mark, Scott, and I were even able to get in a little nap while the younger guys took a long hike, it was great. Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying good health and strength. We are truly being blessed as a family. We love and appreciate all of you our friends and family.

Pictures

This is Natalia, I am adding pictures for my dad. He told me a while back that he wanted them but he doesn't know how to add them.
Let me just tell you before you look at them, He and my mom have been working his butt off for a year building this house for Uncle Ralph and Aunt Gennie. It's amazing, I think it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. My dad is AMAZING!!!
This is the "Chicken" that is on their house that he gave to my mom for her birthday. This picture is deceiving cuz it looks small, it's actually like six feet tall. The outside of the house. These are the stairs, he did tile on the face and wood on the tops of every stair. So pretty! Tile around the fireplaces. There are actually two, don't know what happened to the picture of the other one. This is the kitchen/great room. He's also done a bunch more work but since they are still painting I couldn't get good pictures of everything. Very very awesome work, if you ever get a chance to look at this house you'll be so impressed!

Sunday, Oct.5

I have been reading several of your blogs this morning. Lots of fun reading about you and your families and all your activities. It is fun to read about you young parents and about your children. You get old like me and kind of forget what it was like having little children and the challenges that come with them.
I think Kathleen and I must live a boring life. It seems like all we do is work, sleep, and work some more. It is good we have Jeffrey to keep us on the go. I have been filling in a little bit as the second adult for his cub scout group. We went fishing a couple of weeks ago and Jeff caught the first fish of the group. He was really excited about it. He only has a couple of more requirements and then he should receive his wolf. He will go into the Webelows in December, already 10 years old.

Still working at Uncle Ralph's house. Todd and I are trying to finish up the decks and steps outside. The painters are supposed to be mostly finished with the inside in another couple of weeks and then we will have several odds and ends to finish up so they can use it for Thanksgiving. I need to have Whitnee or Natalia take some pictures and put them on my blog so all of you can see. I don't know how to do something as technical as that.

We are slowly (really slowly) trying to get some landscaping done in our yard. I just don't work near as fast or get as much done in 24 hours as I used to be able to do.

It is conference weekend and yesterday it rained all day long. It is raining again this morning. It started about 6am and has been raining steady since. We needed the moisture. Conference was really good and I enjoyed all the talks. I missed priesthood as I was here at work so I look forward to being able to read those talks.

I can't remember if I ever mentioned that Kathleen got a chicken for her birthday. It is actually a rooster weathervane. When we built our house we decided we wanted a weathervane so I build a coupola when I was shingling the roof but had never put a weathervane up so I told Kathleen she could get one for her birthday. She ordered one from a place in Maine. It really looks kind of neat. It stands about 5 feet tall with the directionals and all but on top of the house it really doesn't look so big. It is shinny copper right now but sadly will eventually turn kind of greenish. It is kind of fun to look at and watch it turn in the wind.

In one more hour I get to go home. I guess we are going to Brad and Natalia's this morning to watch conference with them and then to Matt and Krachel's to watch the afternoon session and eat dinner. I guess I won't get much sleep until tonight but it will be fun to see the kids and the GRANDKIDS!!!! They are so fun. I recommend that everyone have grandchildren.

After reading Bryant and Rebecca's blog, I don't think I will ever complain about being tired and not getting much sleep at night.
